Ibrahima Konate has admitted table-toppers Liverpool lacked concentration in their 2-1 win over Wolves and says the team must learn from their sloppiness. After heading home his first Premier League goal on the stroke of half-time, the centre-back was involved in a mix-up that led to the equaliser on 56 minutes.

The Frenchman eased off guarding a running ball believing Alisson was coming to collect but misjudged his goalkeeper’s intentions, allowing possession to be stolen. Play ultimately broke for Rayan Ait-Nouri to find the net, although a Mohamed Salah penalty five minutes later restored the lead.

That was a significant blip in an otherwise astute performance from Konate that included a terrific second-half block from Carlos Forbs' goal-bound effort. However, several Liverpool players recognised they were not at top tilt throughout the 90 minutes.

Konate was one of them and conceded to Sky Sports: “Yeah I think we missed a lot of concentration today during the game because we missed so many easy balls. Me and so many players as well.

“We have to work on it, everything cannot be perfect every time and today we saw that. We won but we have to learn about what we miss today. I think we need more concentration and more focus during the game and we have to work on it.”

Konate won four aerial duels throughout the match, more than any other player, and his two interceptions were the most out of his teammates. The 25-year-old, who has started the last five Premier League games, gave his assessment of how the match panned out.

"Wolves were very good today, they started really well and the first half was a little bit tough for us in the first half,” Konate added. "After we scored, we then had a little bit more control of the game.

“Then they came back and thankfully we got the second. It was a great battle until the end and thankfully we won and got three points and we are very happy with that.

“This is the Premier League, every game is very hard. Fans expected three points and we did it, that’s the most important.”
