Ice Spice Calls Taylor Swift Her 'Sis' as Singer Praises Her Dedication: She 'Impresses the Hell Out of Me'
Earlier this year, Swift tapped Ice Spice for a remix of "Karma"
Ice Spice and Taylor Swift make the sweetest duo.
In a cover story interview with Variety on Thursday, the "In Ha Mood" rapper opened up about her relationship with the Midnights songstress.
“That’s my sis. We was talking about a bunch of things," Ice Spice, 23, said of Swift, whom she sat next to at the MTV VMAs earlier this month.
"She’s so funny. We was sipping on a little something something. Just chatting, vibing.”
In May, Swift, 33, tapped Ice Spice for a remix of "Karma" and brought her onstage as a surprise guest during her Eras Tour stop at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey — and again the following two nights.
In an email to Variety, the "Maroon" singer shared what drew her to the rapper.
“I relate to Ice in many ways, but I think her dedication and focus is what blew me away from the very start. She’s extremely professional without being cold. Playful and fun without ever taking her eye off the prize," Swift wrote to the outlet.
She continued, "She knows what is and isn’t ‘her’ and sets those boundaries with grace. She studies the industry and other artists’ careers but is very clear about charting her own definitive, original path. It’s her ability to carefully find that balance that impresses the hell out of me."
In a July interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, Ice Spice told the story about how her and Swift's collaboration came to be.
"I was home, and my manager called me and was like, 'Oh, Taylor wants you on a record.' And I'm like, 'Taylor?'" recalled Ice Spice. "And he usually would just text me anything, right? So I'm like, 'OK.'"
Ice Spice described her time in the studio with Swift as "amazing," noting that she arrived after the Grammy winner.
"We went to the studio, and she's so humble and so nice. I kid you not. I pulled up to the studio, and she outside waiting for me," she said at the time. "I'm like, 'Why is Taylor Swift outside?' Like, 'Taylor, what are you doing here?' So she's great. She's so funny."

Swift returns the compliment, telling Variety, “Working with someone new in the studio you immediately get a window into their creative process. She showed up with her verse not only written but had recorded and sent me a vocal pass beforehand just to make sure we were on the same page. Recording, she was quick and laser focused, but intuitive and decisive and knew when she had it nailed.”
Elsewhere in her interview with Variety, Ice Spice cleared the air about an incident with The 1975's Matty Healy after he laughed along to ill-advised comments about her during an appearance on The Adam Friedland Show podcast in February.
“I saw him at the Jean Paul Gaultier party a couple days ago, and he was like, ‘Hey, you OK?’ and I’m like, ‘Of course,'" she told the magazine. "He apologized to me a bunch of times. We’re good.”
