Scrambled eggs are probably one of the easiest breakfast foods to cook – but there are enough people who find it tricky for a ready-made version to be launched.

Despite simply having to beat some eggs and maul them in a frying pan, Iceland has decided that some people need more help.

The frozen food supermarket is selling ‘Ready Scrambled Egg’ – pre made and ready to cook with a simple press of a button.

For £1.50 – around 50p more than a standard box of eggs – the pouches are simply placed into the microwave and are ready to eat 90 seconds later.

Iceland defended the easy eggs by pointing to figures that show some 13% of students have no idea to boil an egg.

They also state that their survey of 1,000 people found that nearly half (40%) of workers can’t cook scrambled eggs in the office and need something microwavable.

Shockingly, the research also found that a third of people don’t know how to make a nutritious meal.

Iceland’s Head Chef Neil Nugent said: ‘Convenience and quality is fundamental to all of Iceland’s dishes, even simple ones likes scrambled egg.

‘It’s really easy for our customers to cook at work with limited resources on offer, or those needing a speedy breakfast at home.
