The 2017 Iditarod race took off on Saturday, March 4, in Anchorage, Alaska. This video shows the countdown for one of the teams. The dogs will haul sleds for more than 1,000 miles, heading for Nome in Alaska’s northwest.

Although the ceremony happened on Saturday in Anchorage, the race will start on Monday in Fairbanks. The starting point had to be changed due to lack of snow in Alaska’s largest city, according to reports. Credit: Instagram/scotty_van1 via Storyful
