Idris Elba’s fiancé has denied that she didn’t want the star to take on the iconic James Bond role.

The Luther frontman’s name has been bandied about for the 007 role ever since Daniel Craig revealed he'd be hanging up his gun holster after the next instalment.

After his romantic proposal to girlfriend Sabrina Dhowre, it was reported that she wasn’t keen on him taking over as Bond because he would have less time at home – with less time for chores.

But now Mrs Elba-to-be has slammed those particular reports, telling that it would be “amazing” if he were to take on the job.

She told the publication: “‘I don’t want him to take on an iconic role because of housework?!? Yeah right!

“Of course, I would want him to do it. It would be amazing. I think he is brilliant enough to succeed at any role and that it would be amazing.”

And when asked about having time for the housework, she added: “Being busy is just part of the job but I get to see him do amazing things.”

Elba proposed to his beauty queen girlfriend at a cinema in East London last month, during a screening of his directing debut Yardie.

A tweet from the cinema's official Twitter account read: "Another @riocinema first!

"Still 5 days to Valentines Day but @idriselba went down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend live on stage this morning before a preview of his film #Yardie."

A spokesperson added: "She said yes and there was much clapping and cheering."
