iGetter review

iGetter lets you grab files from any URL and save to your computer. There are tools and settings aplenty, so you may have to spend time acclimating yourself to get the most from the software.

Pros

Interface: iGetter's compact interface stays clean and fairly easy to navigate, with icons for the main features that resemble those of a media player and a tree view of the main folders, so you can see where your downloads are or view the files you've already downloaded. We opted to close the Details view at the bottom for an even more streamlined interface. When expanded, Details include a file preview, file details, and options to burn a CD.

Browser integration: Although you can use the software's main interface, you'll also find iGetter as an option when any download initiates and on your browser's context menu. It's just a couple clicks to download all the files on a page, and you can uncheck any you don't want before the download starts.

Cons

Complex: iGetter certainly does more than your browser's built-in file download tools, but that also means most will need to crack open the Help file for some of the advanced settings.

Bottom Line

Casual users can skip this one, but if you frequently download files from the Internet, iGetter may be just the tool for you.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of iGetter 2.7.2.
