Yahoo News IKEA and fragrance brand Byredo team up to launch affordable candle collection
Ben Gorham, founder of luxury fashion and fragrance house Byredo, must have known we needed something rather spectacular to lift our moods this year.
The luxury brand is teaming up with IKEA for one of the most hotly anticipated homeware launches of 2020.
IKEA x Byredo is a new collection of luxury candles, titled OSYNLIG, and is due to launch in IKEA stores all over the UK later this year.
Here's everything we know so far about this epic collab.
How many candles are in the IKEA x Byredo range?
The collection consists of 13 sophisticated fragrances. According to Byredo, "each candle has been designed to evoke memories and emotions, and to, fundamentally, improve home life". Each scent is designed to evoke a range of emotions you may otherwise find hard to articulate: nostalgia, ambition, serendipity and comfort, to name just a few.
What do the IKEA x Byredo candles smell like?
The candles have been categorised into three groups: fresh, floral and woody. The intention of this collaboration was to "democratise high-end scents". Which means, giving everyone the chance to scent their home with a dose of luxury. In the collection, you can expect to find delicious, heady combinations such as:
Peach Blossom and Bamboo
Cotton Flower and Apple Blossom
Swedish Birch and Juniper
Tobacco and Honey
And many more. There is truly a scent for everyone!
What else do we know about IKEA x Byredo?
'OSYNLIG', the name of the collection, is Swedish for 'invisible'. The concept of 'invisible design' was pivotal for Ben Gorham when creating the range, and encourages you to light multiple candles at once to create a bespoke scent tailored to your preferences.
The triangle marking on the hand-formed ceramic pots represents the layering of the fragrance: top notes, middle, and base notes. Remember, you can light multiple candles at once - not only for a relaxing ambient light, but for a gorgeous amalgamation of scent.
When do the IKEA x Byredo go on sale?
The OSYNLIG collection is limited edition, and will available in all IKEA stores nationally from November.
