'I'll get them no matter what' - fans in Liverpool anticipate release of Oasis tickets
Oasis' reunion has caused hysteria among fans across the globe. Fans who have previously seen the band live before their split, as well as thousands who've never had the chance will be eagerly anticipating the release of tickets to see them perform for the first time since 2009.
Fans had the ability to sign up for the pre-sale or general sale of tickets to see what is said to be "one of the biggest live moments of the decade". Although the band's 2025 reunion tour won't be coming to Liverpool, the Liverpool ECHO spoke to some of those in the city hoping to get tickets, to get a sense of the excitement building ahead of the sale.
The last time Liam and Noel Gallagher performed together, 21-year-old James Miller was six. James, having signed up for the pre-sale, says he "ought to [get tickets] of course, it's going to be massive!".
Looking to get tickets to one of the five shows in Manchester, James said: "I'm super looking forward to it. I've never been to Heaton Park. I've seen Noel and Liam separately but I never thought I'd get to see Oasis, I'm really excited
"I thought that they [Liam and Noel] would eventually be mates, you know as brothers, but I never thought this. I missed out on Blur which was annoying but I did get Eras Tour [Taylor Swift tickets]. I'm hoping I'll be lucky this time but the thing is you've got to have all your mates there as well."
Jake Russell, 30, is another who answered the pre-sale question correctly to get them in the best position to see the brothers. Jake admits: "I'm not even a huge fan but it's such an event you have to [get tickets]. It was the same when I saw Amy Winehouse, you just have to."
When asked about how much he'd be willing to pay to see the reunion Jake answered, "I'll say my limit is £100 but really I'll get them no matter what". He added: "I've seen Noel with his band but no I didn't think I'd get the chance to see Oasis".
When the ECHO asked people which song they're most excited to hear in the flesh, there was one clear favourite and Jake was in agreement. He answered: "The obvious answer is Wonderwall, that will be great!".
Not everyone we spoke to is as committed to getting tickets to the reunion. Lloyd, 32, told the ECHO: "I'll let other people get them". He said: "If it was more accessible I probably would get them but I'm going to be working. I'll see if my mates have a spare."
Asked whether he thought Oasis would ever perform again, Lloyd boldly claimed: "Yeah I always thought it was a plan between them to build hype."
It did appear that many fans were feeling the pressure of what will be a frantic rush to get tickets to the tour. Many, as James mentioned, are as keen to experience the reunion with friends meaning their worry of getting a ticket goes beyond just themselves.
Lucy, 26, expressed this worry. She said: "I hope I'm fast enough and I want all my friends to get them as well because we can't have someone miss out. I've heard they cost £150, I'm okay with that but I just want to get them. I was so shocked when I heard the news even though I've always hoped for it. I couldn't believe it.
Alex, 24, is taking a different approach to Lucy and is instead enlisting her friend to get both their tickets. With the possibility of getting tickets out of her control, Alex admits: "I'm nervous but I'm so excited. We've decided my friend is going to try and get two tickets so we can go together. Even if we don't get them, I know it's unlikely but hopefully this tour is the start of more for them. It would be nice if they came to Liverpool."
