The finale of I’m A Celebrity's special South Africa-set series is almost here.

In a first for this long-running reality game show, I’m A Celebrity is running a sort of ‘best of’ series where a handful of former campmates are invited back to a new camp to survive another stint in the great outdoors — this time moving the action from Australia to South Africa.

“It's a completely different landscape and they're competing to become the first ever I'm A Celebrity Legend of the Savannah,” Dec told Lorraine Kelly earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Ant added: "It's good, and it's slightly different to the show we do in Australia because they go head to head in trials and whoever loses leaves, so it's quite brutal. That's how we decide the winner. We had a lot of fun."

With the campsite dwindling and the final episode fast approaching, it's anyone's guess as to who will be crowned champion.

When is the I'm a Celebrity: South Africa final on TV?

The final of I'm a Celebrity: South Africa will air on ITV this Friday, 12 May at 9pm.

Filmed entirely in advance, there will be no audience voting element to this one-off series hosted again by Ant and Dec — and up until recently, the names of the returning celebrity campmates had been kept quiet.

Let’s meet this year’s campmates and find out who remains in camp…

Who's in the I'm a Celebrity: South Africa final?

Jordan Banjo

Dancer and Diversity member Jordan Banjo learned a lot during his stint in the jungle back in 2016 — including how to wash up after his fellow campmates. He’s back to learn more crucial life skills and potentially emerge as this year’s winner.

That said, he didn’t manage to bag the crown during his last visit. Instead, it was presenter Scarlett Moffatt who made it all the way to the end, with telly host and comedian Joel Dommett coming in second place.

“How many people get the chance to do it twice?” suggested Banjo, announcing his return. “A series with different campmates from over the years sounds pretty cool and my fellow Diversity dancers are excited to see me suffer again!"

Fatima Whitbread

Fatima Whitbread’s Olympic stamina was put to impressive use during I’m A Celeb’s eleventh series in 2011. It was even enough to help her finish in the show’s final three, just behind runner-up football pundit Mark Wright and series champion Dougie Poynter of McFly.

"I learnt a lot about myself in the Australian camp and I know there will be some life size characters and life size egos in South Africa too," admitted Whitbread.

"But what a great experience it is going to be."

Phil Tufnell

Former cricket player Phil Tufnell was crowned the champion of the show’s second series — and now he’s back for more. Can this previous winner reach the finals again?

"I am one of the lucky few to have gone in the jungle and experienced it all and that's what appealed to me when they phoned up to ask me to take part again,” said Tufnell. “I said yes immediately."

Myleene Klass

TV and radio presenter Myleene Klass made it all the way to the final of I’m A Celeb 2006 — but finished as runner-up behind Busted star Matt Willis. Could she go one better this year?

“Nothing will replicate the experience I had the first time around,” the broadcaster said. “I just want to go in and enjoy it all.”

Who has been voted out of I'm a Celebrity: South Africa?

Carol Vorderman and Paul Burrell: 9th and 10th out

The show's almost over and it's anyone's game - well, apart from Carol Vorderman and Paul Burrell, who left the series during the episode aired on Thursday, 11 May.

The duo were pitted against a fairly tense task that involved them coming into uncomfortably close contact with snakes and bugs.

After their departure, the show was left with its four finalists, Fatima Whitbread, Jordan Banjo, Myleen Klass and Phil Tuffnell.

Helen Flanagan and Dean Gaffney: 7th and 8th out

As the show gears up for its finale, Corrie star Helen Flanagan and EastEnders' Dean Gaffney were the latest to leave camp.

With the remaining stars locked in crates, each had to unpick locks and secure their freedom. Unfortunately, the soap pair came last in this Survival Trial and were forced to leave the show.

Before going, Flanagan admitted that she's "had the time of my life" while Gaffney hoped he had done "better than last time."

Joe Swash: Out 6th

A day after Andy Whyment and Toff said their goodbyes, former EastEnders star Joe Swash left South Africa as well after competing for survival — and failing.

Swash's Temple of Doom task saw him go up against Phil Tuffnell and try to unpick locks from inside a casket whilst battling an onslaught of snakes and creepy crawlies.

After being beaten by Tuffnell, Swash said he was "too old for this game."

Janice Dickinson: Withdrew

Former supermodel Janice Dickinson delighted fans of I’m A Celeb’s seventh series with her constant catchphrases and outspoken style. In fact, audiences loved her so much, she eventually emerged as series seven’s runner-up, beaten only by the equally-entertaining actor Christopher Biggins.

Dickinson was forced to withdraw from the South African version on 8 May after suffering a head injury. The campmates found out via a letter read out by Helen Flanagan.

“Dear beloved campmates. Never in my life have I had such an extraordinary experience with all of you animals,” read the note.

Andy Whyment and Georgia Toffolo: 4th and 5th out

After failing a trial on Monday, 8 April, Corrie star Andy Whyment and Made in Chelsea alum Georgia Toffolo became the latest duo to leave the I'm a Celebrity camp in South Africa.

The pair had to work together in a gold-mine-themed task that pitted them against fellow campmates Myleene Klass and Jodan Banjo, with the victor enjoying a luxury picnic.

Upon leaving, Toffolo said: 'It's been glorious! It has just been amazing. Doing it twice has been really immense" with Whyment adding: "'Thanks for having me back!', before the pair boarded their boats back to civilisation."

Amir Khan: 3rd out

While the audience may not get to vote in this year’s show, campmates do - and as a result of a recent vote on Tuesday, 2 May, it was decided that former boxer Amir Khan would be leaving.

The news was tough on some of his former campmates though, with former royal butler Paul Burrell left misty-eyed.

“It’s like I got to be with a new family in South Africa. I’m always going to compare it with my first time in Australia but this one, for me, was way better,” said Khan upon leaving.

“Great camp, the campmates were amazing. Even though I would have loved to have stayed in a little bit longer, sometimes what can happen is, if you stay longer, you can outstay your welcome. It was just a great experience and I’m just glad I had the opportunity.”

Gillian McKeith and Shaun Ryder: 1st and 2nd out

After a disastrous first trial in which Shaun Ryder and Gillian McKeith had their wits and skills put to the test, the pair ultimately became the first to leave the campsite.

With no audience vote element to this year's series, if at contestants fail challenges, they’re automatically forced to leave the show.

Following an initial clash that saw Ryder less than pleased to see McKeith joining the jungle, the Happy Monday’s singer unexpectedly selected her as his partner for a task that required the pair to retrieve spanners from creature-filled boxes in order to unlock chains.

Unfortunately, McKeith didn’t make it past round one and as a result, both became I’m a Celeb 2023’s first departures.

The I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here: South Africa final airs at 9pm on ITV tonight.
