I’m A Celebrity: Danny Baker Is First Celebrity To Get Voted Out

It’s probably not going to come as much of a surprise that the first person to get evicted from the I’m A Celebrity jungle was Danny Baker.

Whilst everyone else in the camp feigned shock, Danny seemed pretty chill about it all,and later told hosts Ant and Dec that he had expected to be the first to go.

The radio host – who’s just got over an epic battle with cancer -explained: “I’m not surprised I was turfed out first - I wasn’t reacting to trials. I was just walking around singing!”

“People will ask me if the show exceeded my expectations but it couldn’t because they were already so high. I am a huge fan of this show.”

However, he admitted that not everything was great about his time in the camp. Less-than-desirable toilet facilities and a certain Mr Martin Roberts.

“It’s a revolting hole in the ground,” he laughed. “I asked production why we have them and they said ‘Oh they’re authentic’. And I’m like 'Oh is that why we have electric lights everywhere then?’”

He also admitted that his problems with Martin were the result of his own confrontational characteristics – but that there was no bad blood between them, saying: “We just got off on the wrong foot - and I’m a very confrontational person.”

Prior to entering the jungle, Danny had said it’d been a life-long ambition to join the show, telling The Mirror: “I’m one of the few people who actually asked. The only show I’ve ever wanted to do is this. It’s like being asked to do a West End musical.

“This is, in modern TV, as good as it gets. They fly you around the world, put you in a hotel with a beach, then you play gamed in the jungle.”

“The reason I couldn’t do the jungle last time is, for a few years, I couldn’t eat properly and it only passed 18 months ago. They put this hole in my chest where I had to feed through it … I didn’t learn a damn thing from being at death’s door for eight months.

“I would have done this 10 years ago, five years ago. There is no ambition involved other than I’m here by the skin of my teeth.”
