'I'm Always Home in Quarantine': Scottish Beatles Fan Makes 'Yesterday' Parody

A Scottish student recorded a parody of the Beatles tune Yesterday, posting it on his YouTube channel on March 31, joining an Indiana woman who went viral March 30 with her version.

Peter MacPherson, a fourth-year music student at the University of Aberdeen, wrote the lyrics to the song after citizens in the United Kingdom were urged to remain in their homes to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In recent days, the musician has been practicing his versions of well-known pop songs and posting videos of them on his YouTube channel. Among the songs he’s covered are Can’t Help Falling in Love With You, You’ve Got a Friend in Me, and Caledonia.

The musician told Storyful, “I wanted to write a comic parody to lift spirits and bring a smile to people during these difficult times. I wanted to share the important message: to stay at home and keep your hands clean.”

He added, “The message is especially meaningful to me as my girlfriend is working full-time as an essential worker in the already-stretched NHS and we all need to do our bit to help the effort.” Credit: Peter MacPherson via Storyful
