'I'm an Australian in the UK – this one British tradition is my personal hell'
An Aussie who lived in the UK has spoken out about a British tradition she describes as her "personal hell".
TikToker Emily Brogan, who amassed more than 524k followers sharing content about her life in London before relocating back to Australia, shared one of the things Brits do every week without fail. She said while the routine "warms her heart," she can't "imagine anything worse" than taking part herself.
"As an Australian in the UK, one of the cutest things about British people and British culture, without fail is how they all collectively agree to gather around a pub on a Thursday or Friday arvo [afternoon] after work," she said.

"It just melts my heart. It really does. [It’s] the most wholesome thing I’ve ever seen."
She said pubs get so busy on Thursdays and Fridays, it was as if "Ed Sheeran was playing inside every single one." "Every Tom, Dick and Harry is outside, gathered around a little table. 50 people, they're like ants."
She said she "could not think of anything worse" than standing at the pub with colleagues after work "for two hours", as she also observed "none of them [the pub-goers] are sitting."
However, people were quick to point out that Brits will spend much longer than two hours at post-work drinks. "Can confirm if they’re going pub on a Friday after work they’re there till Sunday night," one wrote, to which Emily replied: "My personal hell x."
Meanwhile, others observed that having a tipple after work isn't just a British thing. Another follower added: "Wait what? Hahaha. This is so Australian culture aswell, after work drinks at the pub?"
Meanwhile a third chimed in: "So this isn’t a thing in Australia ?" To which someone replied: "This most definitely is a thing in Australia, doesn’t matter if it’s am or pm."
However, Emily said she was more likely to have a barbecue on the beach after work than go to the pub with her friends.
Others commented on the importance of rounding off the working day with a drink. "Its the law," wrote one, while another agreed: "Haha it’s the only thing that gives us the will to live to get through the next work week babe X".
