I'm A Celeb star Maura Higgins issues health warning ahead of show
A star hotly rumoured to be heading into I'm A Celebrity has shown she hasn't forgotten her health. Maura Higgins, rumoured to be a future star of the ITV show, is a regular campaigner for women's health.
And with just days before she is rumoured to jet off to Australia, she is at it again. Maura took to Instagram to share a message with her followers following a recent GP visit.
On Wednesday, she posted a photo of a medical bed and equipment, captioning it: 'Smear test day!' Those aged 25 and over receive letters from the NHS urging them to undergo cervical 'smear' screenings to prevent cervical cancer. Maura has previously spoken about her smear tests, encouraging her followers to get checked after supporting the #EndSmearFear campaign in 2019, which aimed to tackle the stigma surrounding tests.

She also discussed undergoing testing and an ultrasound after falling seriously ill and being confined to bed in 2022, later finding out she had 'severe inflammation around her bladder'. According to The Sun, she said at the time: "Thanks for all of your lovely messages! A lot of you want a Q&A on what's going on with me but I can't do a Q&A because I'm as much in the dark as you guys, this is why I'm getting tests done."
"However, we did figure something out today I've got severe inflammation around my bladder and we don't know why. "I have to get more tests done but it's very strange.
"I actually went in for an ultrasound today, that was the appointment, and he was doing an internal check and afterwards I said, "That kind of felt like a smear test". And he was like, "It was". And I didn't even know he was doing a smear test! ".
Highlighting the significance of smear tests, she continued: 'These doctors and gynaecologists see hundreds of vaginas every single day. Don't be scared, don't be uncomfortable, it's so so important. They're used to it, it's their job."
Reports now suggest Maura is set to venture into the jungle, following the path of stars such as Sam Thompson and Josie Gibson.
