I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here: Is boxer Amir Khan heading to the jungle?

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! returns to our screens in just one week’s time and a new celebrity name has been thrown into the mix of who we should expect to enter the Australian jungle.

Boxer Amir Khan has been spotted jetting off to Australia, prompting speculation that the former World Champion will be appearing on the show after years of being pursued by ITV bosses.

Speaking to The Sun, a source revealed that Amir still hasn’t signed a contract but the fact that he has agreed to fly out to Australia has left producers “confident” that Amir will end up on the show.

They added: “ITV have been trying to get him to do the show for years so this is a real coup for them. They think he’ll make great TV.”

Over the summer Amir and his pregnant wife, Faryal Makhdoom, suffered an incredibly high-profile break-up, with Amir taking to social media to accuse the beauty guru of cheating on him with fellow boxer Anthony Joshua – a claim that he later confirmed was false.

Faryal also took to her Twitter page to beg for Amir to give her another chance and although he originally insisted that their marriage was over, the two reconciled last week.

Amir posted a photo of himself embracing Faryal yesterday afternoon, captioning the sweet picture with: “With my 4 month pregnant wife, after sorting out all the issues. Closing the year with a happy ending.”

Faryal also shared a photo of herself with Amir and their three-year-old daughter Lamaisah earlier this week.

Speaking of Amir’s potential I’m A Celeb stint, the insider revealed that producers originally wanted the star to hook-up with some of the attractive single women who are heading into the camp.

They explained: “They had hoped that as a newly-single man there could be a jungle romance with some of the sexy singletons there. But that’s now looking unlikely.

“Meanwhile Amir’s hoping he can use the show as a springboard to help rebuild some of the damaged public perception of him after his marriage split.”

Yahoo Celeb UK have contacted Amir’s reps for comment.
