Ant McPartlin has revealed that Holly Willoughby will not be returning to host this year's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!.

Following a turbulent year that saw him charged with drink driving, the presenter was replaced on last year's series of the show by Holly, who joined Declan Donnelly in Australia.

While Holly was hailed by fans for her time on the show, it looks like she really was just acting as a stand-in, as Ant has now confirmed she won't return alongside him and Dec next year.

"No, it's not going to be a trio," he told The Sun. "It's back to us two (Ant & Dec) this year.

"That was the great thing about Holly. It was a one-year gig. That was the brief, a one-off. I was thankful that it was her because she was looking after my mate out there and looking after the show. And she doesn't need the work – she can't get off the telly!"

In the same interview, Ant also discussed his National Television Awards nomination for Best Presenter alongside Dec.

Seen as controversial by some (including Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan), Ant revealed that he still wants people to vote for them to win the award as Dec "deserves" it.

He added: "If we do win – and I hope people still vote – then Dec deserves it. He's worked his socks off this year.

"It's an accolade to how hard he’s worked in tough circumstances. How good a friend he’s been to me. How much of a professional he is. If we do win, then Dec will have to take most of it and I'll take a tiny bit for my few shows last year."

That said, here's why Digital Spy thinks the pair of them still deserve the award.

I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! returns to ITV later this year.
