The 23-year-old was removed just days into the newest series of the ITV1 reality show, after racist and homophobic tweets emerged from his personal Twitter account .

What’s more, the influencer was also expose having sent sexually suggestive and abusive messages to a 14-year-old girl when he was 17.

After the backlash, ITV removed him from the jungle and Maynard took to the internet to explain and apologise.

He then went on to share four tweets, further emphasising how sorry he was and that there was no excuse for his past behaviour.

The apology was met with praise and condemnation from both sides.

Now, Maynard is vocal about making a return, saying he’d “love” to appear alongside the remaining celebs this year.

While appearing on ITV’s Lorraine, Maynard insisted he had something to prove to both his fans and the I’m A Celeb audience. “I’ve definitely thought about whether I’d go back on. Now that I’m out it’s definitely something that I’d love to go and do again and prove myself,” he said.

“I didn’t get the worst of it while I was in there, I didn’t get any really tough trials, I was attacked by a leaf which was pretty traumatising.”

Maynard, younger brother of singer Connor, was only in the jungle for a mere three days, meaning he may not receive his £25,000 fee for the show.

However unlikely it seems that he’ll get the chance to go back to the jungle (in this series, at least) Maynard was grateful over the support he received in the wake of saying sorry. “I think people were very accepting of my apology and that it was genuine.”
