'I'm A Celebrity': Nick Knowles thinks the moon landing was faked, and now he's favourite for the boot

Hang on… does Nick Knowles not believe that man landed on the moon?

Despite the age-old conspiracy theory being the source of decades of debunking and mockery, the DIY SOS presenter decided to run out a few of the old chestnuts on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

With Anne Hegerty.

Big mistake.

Anne made short work of making Knowles look a prize chump for questioning the moon landings, taking his points and then crushing them one by one.

“Around the outside of the earth is the Van Allen belt which is massively radioactive and the argument is you would have to build a spacecraft out of lead in order to protect the astronauts,” he said.

The Chase quizmaster replied: “Except you are going through it quite fast, it need not have that massive effect.”

“Then what about the other questions, on their chests they wore the cameras on which they took the photographs of the moon, it was a chest mounted camera, in which was Kodak film, as you know there is no atmosphere on the moon in direct sunlight it is something like 200 degrees yet Kodak film has an operating field of like 130 degrees yet amazingly it all worked,” Nick countered.

“Also the moon landing photographs it appears to be lit from two sides can you explain that?”

Said Anne: “You are getting sunlight and then you are getting sunlight bouncing back from the earth. If the whole thing is fake what do you think happened to Apollo 1, the one that caught fire on the launch pad, I mean if there were never going to actually go…?”

She also noted that the Russians, who were in a race to the moon with the US, were tracking the launch, and might likely have mentioned something had it not arrived.

“The reason was the Russians had already got into orbit and circulated the earth inside the Van Allen belt so the only way they could top it was to go to the moon and back,” he said.

“When they discovered they couldn’t the only way to do it was to fake it.”

“So John Glenn and all those guys kept it a secret their entire lives?” added John Barrowman.

Now Nick is 6/4 favourite to be booted off the show tonight, and perhaps not least because of his tin foil hattery.

Viewers are starting to tire of his inflated ego and his humble-bragging about his single Make You Feel My Love being number one in the iTunes chart, which has lead to an increase in instances of unrequested outbursts of song.

I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm.
