It was the moment producers and viewers hoped would come and Coleen Rooney has now spoken about the 'Wagatha Christie' scandal, involving her and Rebekah Vardy, on only her second night in I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

It was back in 2019 that Coleen sent social media on fire, when she took to Twitter (X) completely out of the blue to reveal that she'd been doing some detective work to find out who from her followers on Instagram had been 'leaking' fake stories about her to the death, with Coleen claiming her investigation led her to one person, as she famously ended her tweet: "It's....Rebekah Vardy's account.'

The tweet caused a storm as Rebekah, wife of England and Leicester striker Jamie, fired back to deny the accusations and the row between the two resulted in a lengthy court case, with Coleen coming out on top, as a mock docu-drama on the fallout was commissioned by Channel 4 and a stage play hit the West End, set in the courtroom as Coleen and Rebekah went head to head with their evidence.

It wasn't actually Coleen who brought up Wagatha Christie on I'm A Celebrity, with its mention being prompted by a conversation with Jane Moore, GK Barry and Dean McCullough, about Jane's time with the late Princess Diana, in a time when social media didn't exist. Listening to Jane, Radio 1 DJ Dean quipped: "Can you imagine if Princess Diana had done a Wagatha Christie? She would have taken the bull by the horns!"

As Coleen smiled, Jane remarked: "That was epic what you did," with GK asking Coleen if she was scared to post what she did about Rebekah.

Revealing just how she landed on Rebekah, who now actually owns the catchphrase 'Wagatha Christie,' as the alleged culprit, Coleen explained she'd narrowed down the stories to her 'close friends' on Instagram, saying: "I was onto it, I just didn't know what account."

On whether she, in GK's words 's**t herself' about posting it, the 36-year-old replied: "No because I just didn’t think it would have the impact it did, because I was just that sick and tired of it, it was draining.”

She then added: "That was my worst nightmare to go to court. I felt ashamed to go to court. I felt like it was putting a show on for the whole world. I want to get it sorted without going to court. What got me, over the whole thing, was it became a bit of a joke and that’s really disappointing, it wasn’t a joke for me. No one knew the full story.”
