I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! 2024 spoilers follow.

I'm a Celebrity star Dean McCullough has become the first celebrity of the 2024 season to quit a trial.

After GK Barry earned nine stars in Monday's trial, the public chose BBC Radio 1 presenter Dean to complete tonight's (November 19) trial, 'Sinister Sarcophagus'.

"I absolutely hate confined spaces, this is not a good day," Dean said as he headed out of camp.

"I am bricking it, to be honest. This is not what I expected this early on. The pressure I'm feeling to bring back stars is unbelievable because people just want a full belly."

At the trial area, Ant and Dec explained that Dean would be locked into a mummy figurine, whilst having to answer a series of Egypt-related questions.

For every question Dean answered correctly, a star would be lowered down and he would have to release it using only his mouth in under 30 seconds.

"This is my worst nightmare. This is not good," Dean said when he entered the sarcophagus.

Once the trial began, sand quickly entered the body compartment, while giant mealworms and crickets were tipped into the head compartment.

After correctly answering two questions and successfully depositing the stars, Dean panicked as the sand completely covered his legs, shouting: "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here!"

When he exited the coffin, Dean became very emotional, explaining that he didn't like not being able to move his legs. "I'm so sorry. It's the fact that I couldn't move my legs. This is no joke," he said.

"I'm absolutely raging at myself. It was the panic. I really feel like I've let [my campmates] down."

Dec then confirmed that the trial would have got "a whole lot worse", as the sand would have continued to fill the sarcophagus until it covered Dean's entire body, leaving him unable to move.

After Dean rejoined his fellow campmates, Loose Women star Jane Moore said that two stars was "incredible" for someone who suffers from claustrophobia.

Elsewhere in the episode, Alan Halsall and Danny Jones took part in a challenge to win the campmate's luxury items that had been chosen by their loved ones back home.

After answering a series of questions about their co-stars, the pair won eight parcels, with Jane and Barry McGuigan sadly losing out on their items.

Later, the group gathered round the campfire to open their gifts from home, which included a dressing gown, two personalised pillows and an inflatable chair.

Ant and Dec then arrived in camp to reveal that the public had voted for Dean and GK Barry to complete the next trial, 'Drown in the Dumps'.

I'm a Celebrity... airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
