Former I'm a Celebrity campmate Nick Knowles reunited with presenter Holly Willoughby on today's (January 16) This Morning, though things got somewhat awkward.

The DIY SOS host spoke about his experience on the show, though he then turned the subject to "the stuff that wears you out", arguing that incidents not seen on-camera were exhausting.

"There's only one chance you get to talk off camera, and that's when you leave camp and when you go to a trial, there's a little gap in-between," Nick claimed.

"On the first couple of days we gathered together and said, 'Look, they're going to do everything they possibly can to get under our skins, and we don't want to look like a bunch of arses, so why don't we make it them versus us, and we get tighter the tougher it gets?'"

However, Holly immediately disputed Nick's claim, saying: "But I don't think they do try and do..." though Nick interjected: "They do!"

The This Morning presenter then claimed the team was "supportive" of the campmates, though was somewhat taken aback when he added: "Yeah, not really."

"They try to get under your skin, they make you tired, they make you hungry, they make you dehydrated," Nick continued.

Phillip Schofield noted: "Of course they do – that's the show! You've got to expect that when you go in!"

"Exactly, it's us versus them," Nick added. "It's like being in a rugby team, you set yourself up. It isn't you versus the world, it isn't us versus the production. But if you get that mindset, that it's us versus them, you bond together.

"Every time it gets more difficult, you come back and find they've left the canopy open and all your bedding is soaking wet, and you say, 'Can you change our sleeping bags?' and they say, 'No you have to sleep in wet beds'."

Phil then joked by asking whether his "punishment back at the production team [was] to sing?", with Nick claiming that he was pressured into his famous singing episode.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
