With lights dazzling, music pumping and thousands of people walking in front of your house every day, life in the Walton Street during Hull Fair is unique for residents.

And Park View resident Elaine Lower loves it. In fact, she's proud of her home during the first week of October.

Despite being unaware that her property would become one of the busiest spots in town one week of the year when she moved in 11 years ago, it has only heightened her love for the fair.

“I’ve been here 11 years - I’m from Coventry originally. I didn’t know about the fair when I moved in originally but I love it, every year you see the same people walk by, and you get familiar with the faces; a woman over there has been all over the news last few days - the one at Sweets of Yesteryear.”

During the other 51 weeks of the year, Elaine sees Hull City and Hull FC fans going to and from the neighbouring MKM Stadium for home matches.

“Usually here it’s just traffic, but tonight [Friday] and tomorrow night it’ll be fun to see everybody bumper to bumper. It’s okay for me because the burger man over there does me a bit of a discount too!”

Despite all the burgers, hotdogs and other street food purchased in the week, litter is not a problem for Elaine - who even set up her own cardboard box bin.

“There’s never any litter too, I've got a box outside the gate as a bit of a bin, but there’s barely any litter in the garden, every morning council are here cleaning it up, they even come in the garden and pick up anything that’s gotten in.”

She said: “I’m proud living here. I can see everything from my bedroom window. I don’t want it [the fair] to move though, every year they’ve talked about it but it needs to stay right here."
