'I'm a PT – avoid cardio at certain time during workout to shed weight fast'
It's January, which means people have made New Year's resolutions to get fit and healthy. This often means becoming a regular at the gym.
If your goal is to lose weight and slim down, you might think doing cardio is the way to do it. However, one personal trainer argued against it, as she said cardio at the end of your workout is more ideal in her opinion.
Online fitness coach Emily Kerley took to TikTok to explain: "If you're doing cardio before your weights, you're going to use up all your energy before you even start your training session.

"Instead, warm up with mobility exercises or a quick five minute walk. And if you have any cardio in your program, make sure you get it done after you hit the weights."
In a follow up video, she explained only doing cardio workouts if you want to lose weight might actually prevent you from shredding the weight off your body.
"Yes, cardio does help you burn calories, but only for that 30 minute session you're doing," she explained. "But to lose fat, we wanna be burning all m*****f**king day, so do this instead - weight training.
"Yes, you'll be burning less calories during your session, but you'll be building a lean muscle."
She went on to explain the more lean muscle you have on your body, the faster your metabolism will run during the day, and not just during your training sessions.
Despite Emily's informative tips, not everyone agreed doing cardio last was the best way for them to exercise, with one person saying: "I literally feel the opposite, I lose my energy after weights and don't feel like doing cardio. I knock out cardio first."
Another user wrote: "If you want to lose weight by doing both cardio and weights, the order does NOT matter as long as you get it done, find what works for yourself."
However others swore by what Emily was saying, saying the switch is what helped them reach their goals.
"I lost weight quicker doing my cardio after," one user said, while another one wrote: "I do 10 mins before my workout, then 20 minutes after, works for me."
