Images show fire-hit Yarm home after electrical fault sparks blaze
Images show a fire-hit Yarm home after an electrical fault sparked a blaze.
Cleveland Fire Brigade was called to a property in Yarm where an electrical fault had caused a fire in the living room earlier this month. Thankfully, the homeowners had closed the living room door, stopping the fire and smoke from spreading. Now, the brigade has used the powerful images of both sides of the door to highlight just how important it is and say it could save lives.
On November 10 at 7.28pm fire crews were called to Sybilla Close in Yarm, where the television on the wall of the living room was on fire. Three fire engines attended from Thornaby and Yarm.

One hose reel was used to extinguish the fire by two firefighters wearing breathing equipment. The room was left heavily smoke damaged.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Fire Brigade said: "These powerful images from a house fire we attended recently show why it’s so important to close your doors at night. An electrical fault with the TV caused a fire in the living room, but thanks to closed doors, the fire was contained. While the living room suffered severe damage, the hallway and the rest of the property had only light smoke damage.
"A simple action can save lives and property. Close your doors before bed to stop the spread of fire and smoke."
