Images Show Russian Ships Loading Grain in Crimea, Satellite Company Says

Satellite imagery released to Storyful on May 24 shows Russian ships loading Ukrainian grain at the port of Sevastopol in Crimea, according to Maxar Technologies.

Maxar said the images were taken on May 19 and 21. One of the photos, Maxar told CNN, shows grain pouring into the hold of one of the ships.

The images provided by Maxar match images from Vessel Finder of two Russian ships named the Matros Pozynich and the Matros Koshka.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on May 21 Russia had blocked 22 million tons of food in Ukrainian ports, accusing them of stealing and trying to sell the produce.

Zelensky said the result could lead to a world food crisis, and asked for help from countries to help unblock Ukrainian ports. Credit: ©2022 Maxar Technologies via Storyful
