Immersive digital space 'Microworld' heading to Herbert Art Gallery in October
Herbert Art Gallery is set to welcome a new immersive and interactive exhibition this autumn. Visitors will be able to step into the realm of 'Microworld', an immersive digital ecosystem this October.
The exhibition will run from October 26, 2024, to February 23, 2025, where visitors of all ages can enjoy an interactive and playful space where digital creatures respond to human presence, encouraging creativity, exploration, and collaboration.
Microworld is designed to stimulate an ever-changing environment, where the digital creatures interact not only with each other but also with the audience in the exhibition, which also contains a cosmic chill zone.

Whether you're waving your hand to see colourful silhouettes multiply across the screen or creating sound waves to breathe life into strange creatures, Microworld features a range of interactive installations to showcase the beauty of digital life, set to delight 'curious minds' of all ages, organisers say.
The exhibition explores the themes of ecosystems, artificial life, and future art. The artists Genetic Moo which consists of duo Nicola Schauerman and Tim Pickup, have spent over 10 years perfecting the digital ecosystem which has been displayed globally and engaged over 400,000 visitors.
Head of Creative Media at the Herbert, Kerrie Suteu, said: "We are excited to bring Microworld to Coventry. This exhibition offers an immersive experience like no other. It allows visitors to be both participants and creators, exploring a world where art and science merge to inspire creativity and wonder. Whether you’re a family, an art enthusiast, or simply curious, Microworld has something for everyone."
A spokesperson for Genetic Moo, said: "Microworld is a space where there are no rules, only possibilities. The exhibition celebrates the interplay between digital art and human interaction, making it vital for anyone interested in how technology can spark the imagination. We can’t wait to see how the people of Coventry interact with it."
