Swansea Council has announced an important change to when black bags will be collected from outside homes across the city. Starting from December 2, black bags will now be collected on a 'green week', whilst garden waste will be collected on a 'pink week'.

It means that black bags will now go out the same time as your green bags (containing glass and cans, and paper and cardboard), whilst garden waste will go out the same time as your pink bag (containing plastics).

A notice from the council read: "A big thank you from us for recycling more than ever. Because of this great effort, we are now updating how we collect recycling and black bag waste. We also have a brand new fleet of collection vehicles so the time is right to make this change." For the latest Swansea news, sign up to our newsletter here.

There will be no garden waste collections between December 2 and February 28, with the service suspended over the winter period. You can read more about that by clicking here. You can download a new collection calendar for your address on the council's website by clicking here.
