Inbetweeners actor says no to reunion because they're 'too old'
Blake Harrison, one quarter of the iconic Inbetweeners gang has said that there’s no chance of an on-screen reunion because they’re all now ‘too old’.
The actor, who played Neil Sutherland and who’s now 32, says that the troublesome four couldn’t possibly get away with the same outrageous antics now they’re all fully grown men, as opposed to teens.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, he shared his thoughts on the rumours that the lads – that also includes Simon Bird (as Will), James Buckley (as Jay), and Joe Thomas (as Simon) – are set to get back together for a reunion-type show.
‘I just don’t think it would work, I think we’re too old now,’ he said, as he dismissed the the idea.
‘I think the reason it was so funny was because you had these idiotic, ignorant lads that you let them get away with saying things that would be quite offensive, but as they get older, you can’t excuse it.’
The stars, who are now all in their early and mid-30s may still look youthful but, as Blake admits, it’d be hard to convince people that they were 16 again.
The discussion comes after Simon, 33, had also shot down the idea of a reunion as the 10th anniversary comes around.
‘It’s definitely over,’ the actor recently said on Lorraine. ‘We’re all so happy and proud of what we did with it and don’t want to spoil it by going back.’
Elsewhere, Greg Davies, who played the stern-faced Mr Gilbert, also said he’d never return to the show, either: ‘It’s a case of writing what you know. But I won’t play another teacher.’
The Inbetweeners ran for three seasons between 2010 and 2012, with a feature film making its way to cinemas in 2011, titled The Inbetweeners Movie. A sequel followed in 2014 simply called The Inbetweeners 2.
