Star of The Inbetweeners James Buckley has said that he’s ‘feeling pretty hated’ following the backlash over their ‘reunion’ show on Channel 4.

Some fans of the comedy series tuned in expecting a new episode of the show, but were gutted to discover it was a chat show format with Jimmy Carr interviewing the stars, along with old clips and a sequence where the lads headed out on the road in their trusty yellow Cinquecento.

Even those who weren’t expecting a full-on episode of the show, which was celebrating its 10th anniversary, noted that the interviews seemed stilted and awkward.

Buckley, who played Jay in the show, took to Twitter to address the disappointment.

“Feeling pretty hated right now,” he wrote.

“Im sorry to anyone who feels let down with last nights show. Im especially upset as it really is the fans that made the inbetweeners a success, it certainly wasnt me. I might do an explanation video on my YT, or might just leave it & move on #sorry.”

Buckley was joined by his co-stars Simon Bird, who played Will, Joe Thomas (Simon) and Blake Harrison (Neil) for the retrospective.

The Daily Telegraph panned it, calling it ‘a shambolic mess that failed to do the show justice’.
