Incredible Christmas pop-up shop opens in Plymouth
A pop-up shop selling original art is opening in Plymouth in the run up to Christmas. Local students from Arts University Plymouth’s Pre-Degree and Sixth Form Centre will help the people of Plymouth fill their Christmas stockings with original art.
For the 25th year in a row, the students will be opening their pop-up shop, Design to Sell, from 10am to 3pm on Thursday November 28 at Palace Court on Buckwell street in plympton>Plymouth city centre. Pre-Degree students between the ages of 16 and 19 will be selling independent art, prints, textiles and crafts to the public, offering a chance to buy unique handmade Christmas gifts for one day only.
The wide range of art available comes from young artists studying across the University’s range of A-Level-equivalent Extended Diplomas, in an event championing entrepreneurship, sustainability and professional development.

Design to Sell has grown into a hallmark event in Plymouth over the past 25 years, gaining lots of attention and giving many local students the first opportunities to sell their work publicly and speak about their creative aspirations on local television and radio.
The event showcases the creativity of young people in the arts and is known for bringing joy to the local community through their hard work and unique designs.
The cash-only pop up offers a platform for students under 19 to gain commercial experience, network with the public and build confidence by selling their high quality designs face-to-face to members of the local community.
Steven Forsyth, Head of Pre-Degree at Arts University Plymouth said: "This is a milestone year for us because it symbolises 25 years of people in Plymouth and the South West supporting our local young people to work hard, follow their passions and build the skills they will need in their professional lives for years to come.
"Our creative study options are helping those who have finished their GCSEs to continue their education, gain practical technical skills and understand how to make it in-industry as successful creative practitioners.
"Design to Sell is a chance for our students to celebrate this growth and showcase the work they have designed with pride, by selling it to the public.
"For anyone attending, it is a great opportunity to get gifts you won’t find anywhere else and really make a difference to the young people in your city.”
