Incredible moment man saves a dolphin's life after it was swept into shallow water by Florida hurricane

Dramatic video which has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times shows the moment a man rescues a dolphin which was stuck in shallows in the aftermath of the Florida hurricane.

Justin Squire took the video a day after Hurricane Michael ripped through parts of Florida, killing 19 in the state.

In the footage, a campground can be seen completely destroyed as Mr Squire and his friends drive a car towards the beach.

Suddenly he sees something in the water and runs towards it.

Mr Squire can then be seen pulling the dolphin along the water towards him before then attempting to pick it up.

The dolphin then swims off into the distance.

Mr Squire can be heard saying: “I hope he’s alright.”

The video has been viewed over 200,000 times with many people praising the man for his efforts.

Kristianne Karlson said: “I love how you didn’t even think twice. Just immediately ran to help. Says a lot about you sir.”

While Jodie Fisk wrote: “You are a hero! Thank you for saving that dolphin!”

Across the US southern states, Hurricane Michael has killed 29 people.

4,000 members of the Florida National Guard are still working on relief efforts.
