A driver has been described as "incredibly lucky" after avoiding serious injury when his car crashed head-on into a tree. The team at the Stapleford Fire Station say crews attended the A52 near the Bardills Island roundabout late on Thursday (September 12) after reports of a single-vehicle collision.

Sharing details of the incident, the Stapleford team posted on Facebook: "The driver was incredibly lucky to walk away with what appear slight injuries, considering that his car crashed head on into a tree, with his engine coming to rest around three metres away from the car. We wish him a speedy recovery."

Crews from the Eastwood fire station also assisted in responding to the incident. Traffic on the eastbound side of the A52 was affected whilst the incident was cleared.
