Independent dog food shop in Grimsby celebrates 10 years of feeding man's best friend

A leading dog food shop in Grimsby recently celebrated a whole decade of helping feed man's best friend.

Raw's Best began operating out of owner Karin's house but quickly grew to feed not just the dogs of Grimsby, but those from as far afield as Boston. They threw a special 10-Year Anniversary Open Day for pets and their owners alike, with free prosecco, nibbles and food vans to feed everyone to celebrate the landmark.

After recently refurbishing their unit in Nunsthorpe, the staff at Raw's Best went all out for their celebrations. Karin Carling started by selling food from her home freezers. Seeing a gap in the market for quality raw meat, she bought more fridges and expanded her business from the side of her home.

Team Member Britani Wilson said: "We have a lot of regulars, obviously lots in Grimsby. People are from Lincoln, Horncastle, bigger dogs, breeders, working dogs."

Although, like many other small businesses, Raw's Best has struggled over the last few years, the staff used the event as a thank-you for the custom and love they have received. The 10-year anniversary was held on November 9, with plenty of customers turning up to their unit on Winchester Avenue to celebrate.

They said, “Wow, what a turnout we had for our celebration of being open 10 years, two other local businesses; The Greek Shack & The Little Cupcake Co. joined us, and we are still gobsmacked with the turnout and support we received from all our existing and new customers."
