India’s ambassador to Kuwait visited some of his compatriots who were recovering in hospital after a fire engulfed a building housing workers on Wednesday, June 12.

Ambassador Adarsh Swaika was also seen at the site of the fire, in Mangaf.

Kuwaiti newspaper Al Qabas said at least 49 people were killed in the fire, with many injured.

News reports in India said some of the dead were from that country. Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said he was “deeply shocked” and offered “deepest condolences to the families of those who tragically lost their lives.” Credit: India in Kuwait via Storyful
