Indian news reader discovers her husband is dead as she reads breaking news story

This is the moment that a TV news anchor found out that her husband had tragically died in a car accident as she read a breaking news story.

Supreet Kaur is an anchor on Chhattisgarh’s private IBC-24 channel and has been praised for maintaining her composure as a reporter phoned in details of a breaking news event.

The reporter explained that there had been a fatal accident involving a Renault Duster at Pithara in Mahasamund district, with three of the five people travelling in the car losing their lives.

Kaur has been praised for her bravery.

The deceased were not identified during the broadcast but the information was enough to let Kaur know that her husband could have been a victim as he was driving that same route in the same car with four other passengers at the time.

Kaur remained professional but broke down as soon as she walked out of the TV studio, with a colleague telling The Hindustan Times: “She is an extremely brave lady.

“We are proud of her as an anchor, but what happened today has left us in shock.

The brave reporter continued reading the news.

“She got a sense that it was her husband’s vehicle. She read the bulletin and only when she came out of the studio, she started calling her relatives.”

The colleague went on to admit that members of staff learned that her husband had died whilst she was reading the news, continuing: “But we did not tell her. We did not have the courage.”

Kaur, 28, has been working with IBC-24 for almost a decade and married Harsad Kawade just one year ago.
