Indiana Deputy Injured After Vehicle Struck Head-On by Drunk Driver, Officials Say
A sheriff’s deputy in Bloomington, Indiana, was injured after his patrol vehicle was hit head-on by a drunk driver earlier this week, officials said.
In this footage, Deputy Zeiser of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department is driving down West Country Club Drive when he encounters an SUV slowed down with hazard lights flashing, the sheriff’s office said. As the deputy approaches the vehicle, a car drives out from behind it, crossing the center line and crashing head-on into the deputy’s vehicle.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department said that the driver was drunk.
According to a local news report, the accused driver was uninjured, and the deputy sustained a cut to his wrist.
The accused driver was booked into Monroe County Jail on suspicion of aggressive driving and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to local news, but no criminal charges had been filed against him as of Wednesday, January 4. Credit: Monroe County Sheriff’s Department via Storyful
