Yahoo News Indonesian woman arrested for abandoning her newborn baby in recycling bin at Tai Keng Gardens
SINGAPORE — A 29-year-old female Indonesian has been arrested for allegedly abandoning her newborn baby boy inside a recycling bin.
In a statement on Wednesday (29 July), the police said the baby was found abandoned inside the bin at Tai Keng Gardens.
Through investigations, the police arrested the woman who was believed to have abandoned the baby. She is believed to be the mother of the child and the police are looking into the identity of the child’s father.
The baby had no visible injuries and his condition was stable.
The woman will be charged on Thursday with exposure and abandonment of a child under 12 years old. If convicted, she faces a jail term of up to seven years, or a fine, or both.
