Anthony Mackie's Falcon (Sam Wilson) is one of the newer recruits to the Avengers, having been recruited by Captain America (Chris Evans) prior to the events of Captain America: Civil War.

The Falcon fought alongside his buddy Cap in Marvel's Civil War, but he'll be working with friends and foes alike when Thanos (Josh Brolin) threatens the entire galaxy in next year's Avengers: Infinity War.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently teased that some key heroes won't make it through the conflict, but we can now safely say that Falcon will at least be part of round two in the second of two upcoming sequels.

Anthony Mackie snapped a photo from the set of Avengers 4 on Wednesday (December 13), posing in front of a chair specifically marked for his character Sam Wilson.

We can effectively count in Falcon but there's been some other intriguing news from the set of Avengers 4 this week as well, courtesy of Gwyneth Paltrow.

Paltrow shared photos of herself in a motion-capture suit, leading to some speculation that she'll don her own Iron Man armour once again to take on her heroic Rescue persona.

Given that fellow cast member Karen Gillan let slip that Avengers: Infinity War and its follow-up will reintroduce plot strands from almost ten years ago, it seems even more exciting Easter eggs await fans.

Avengers: Infinity War will be released on April 27, 2018 in the UK, then following in the US on May 4, 2018. Avengers 4 follows in 2019.
