Senior Officer Killed as Fire Engulfs Egyptian Police Complex
A senior police officer was killed, and dozens of people injured, when a fire ripped through the Ismailia Security Directorate in Egypt on October 2, local media reported.
Local reports identified the police officer as Lieut Col Mohamed Refaat Libda.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health said 12 people were treated at the scene of the fire and 26 were transferred to hospital for treatment. Of the 26 people transferred to hospital, 24 were treated for asphyxiation and two were treated for burns, the statement said.
