An investigation has been launched after former England footballer Adam Johnson was filmed laughing while discussing his conviction for sexual activity with a 15-year-old fan.
The Prison Service inquiry comes after footage emerged of Johnson in what appears to be the laundry room at Moorland Prison, South Yorkshire, where he is serving a six-year sentence.
In the video obtained by The Sun, he is asked by someone: "It's not like you f****** raped her or owt like that?"
Laughing, Johnson replies: "No, I wish I f****** did for six year."
The former Sunderland and Manchester City winger, 29, is also heard saying that he believed he was prosecuted and given a long sentence because he was a public figure.
Johnson was found guilty last year of sexual activity with a child after meeting up with the girl in his Range Rover in County Durham in January 2015.
At the start of his trial at Bradford Crown Court, Johnson admitted one charge of sexual activity with a child, relating to kissing her. He also admitted a charge of meeting a child with intent after grooming her.
Last month he was denied permission to appeal against his conviction and Court of Appeal judges also denied his bid to have his sentence reduced.
A Prison Service spokeswoman said the recording was being investigated, adding: "We are committed to making prisons places of safety and reform and are stepping up measures to find and block illegal mobile phones.
"Those who break the rules will be punished and can face extra time behind bars."
