Netflix's controversial teen dramedy Insatiable may have sparked outrage among viewers when it first arrived last year, but a second season has now come and gone. (Unless you're watching responsibly, that is.)

While there's no word yet if a third season will happen, Insatiable's creator Lauren Gussis has revealed her plans for what's next for Patty Bladell after season two's shocking finale.

The finale, 'The Most You Can Be', not only revealed the Pageant Killer's true identity (Arden Myren's Regina Sinclair), it also saw the transformation of Patty from a self-destructive beauty queen to an out-and-out killer.

"Maybe that's why I couldn't stop eating. I was pushing down the truth," Patty muses, before admitting: "Nothing tastes as good as killing feels".

So, with Insatiable ending on a bleak note: Patty embracing her evil side and swearing deadly revenge on Regina, who framed Bob for the murders, what's next?

"What I will say is I feel like it's not cut and dry in so far as that she is a bad person and likes killing and she's irredeemable," Lauren told TheWrap, suggesting all is not lost for Patty.

"Listen, I come from eight years on Dexter, so I think, is that a character who is irredeemable, you know? To me, it's more about exploring the shadow parts of one's self and how low can somebody go and still come back toward the light?

"Patty feels like she's finally spoken some degree of truth, which is what everyone's been saying to her, 'You have to be honest if you're going to recover'. And she speaks some degree of truth about what she likes to do, but she still hasn't gotten to the truth that she needs to reevaluate her ethics, right? That's actually what recovery looks like."

Gussis went on to say that a third season would explore Patty trying to find her "own inner foundation and moral compass" – if she has one at all.

"Is she really willing to face that and rise above it like a phoenix coming out of the ashes, or is it more fun to watch someone spiral in rage?" she added.

"To me, on some level, when she's healed the show is over."

Seasons one and two of Insatiable are available on Netflix.
