According to the official synopsis, the show will introduce a big film studio working in Riley's mind. The Dream Productions of the title is the place where every fantasy can come true whilst the protagonist is asleep.

Modelled after a Hollywood studio, this Dream HQ is where Joy (Poehler) and the other emotions send Riley's complex memories for a bit of REM processing.

Meanwhile, director Paula Persimmon (Paula Pell) will face a nightmare of her own as she's trying to create her next hit dream.

She's paired up with the overly confident daydream director Xeni (Richard Ayoade), who's looking to have his big break into night dreams, and this unlikely partnership is expected to cause all sorts of trouble.

The voice ensemble is rounded out by Maya Rudolph and Ally Maki in undisclosed roles.

The main difference with the movies is that the show will be framed as a mockumentary, providing fans of the franchise with a behind-the-scenes doc of the making of biggest dream the studio has ever put out.

Pixar is also launching sports animated comedy Win or Lose, following a middle school softball team called the Pickles in the week leading up to their big game.

The cast includes Will Forte as Coach Dan, Milan Ray as star catcher Rochelle, and Rosa Salazar as her mum Vanessa.

All four episodes of Dream Productions will stream on Disney+ from December 11.
