Inside Eamonn Holmes' girlfriend Katie Alexander's life and how they first met
TV's beloved duo Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford announced their separation in May - but it seems the GB News presenter has found new love. Former This Morning star Eamonn, 64, and Katie Alexander, 42, were spotted sharing a cosy moment at a Spanish port over the weekend, just before embarking on a Mediterranean cruise.
Eamonn drew attention as he arrived at Barcelona port on a mobility scooter, with Katie by his side, ready for some late-summer relaxation under the sun. How did Eamonn Holmes meet his new girlfriend Katie Alexander?
It's believed that Eamonn's connection with Katie began nine years prior to his split from Ruth, starting with a Twitter exchange back in 2015 when Katie responded to one of Eamonn's posts. It's still unclear when this online interaction blossomed into a friendship, but reports suggest that Ruth discovered Eamonn had been showering Katie with gifts in the year leading up to their split, reports the Mirror. This reportedly included treating her and her children to a safari park visit and gifting them tickets to a Beyonce concert.
In October last year, a full eight months before his split with Ruth, Eamonn Holmes, who is battling health issues and now requires assistance to walk, made the journey to Yorkshire to host a charity event linked to Katie's work. MailOnline reports that Katie's ex-husband, George, has suggested that she and Eamonn had been 'meeting up' regularly after her marriage ended in 2022.
While Ruth's friends profess say they are unaware of any of this, they say that Ruth, who is still wearing her wedding rings, is said to be enduring a nightmare as attention swirls around her estranged husband and his new companion.
Prior to her involvement with Eamonn, who is 22 years her senior, Katie had been linked romantically with two older men. Katie first became a mother after falling in love with coach driver Michael Devine. At the time, Katie was a 19-year-old shop assistant, while Michael was significantly older at 40 years her senior.
Their love story lasted five years and resulted in the birth of their son Ben, who is now 22 years old. In a recent chat with MailOnline, 81-year-old Michael revealed: "We've been split up for a lot of years now. I do see Katie now and again, but she is down in London. There are no hard feelings whatsoever towards Katie, she's a nice woman, she really is. I wish her well. Absolutely brilliant, is Katie."
After parting ways with Michael, Katie took on the management of the Barca cafe in Dewsbury, which sadly shut its doors in 2013. By then, she had married bar owner George Alexander, and they had two children together - a daughter born in 2010 and a son in 2011. However, their marriage ended in 2022. Following the media attention surrounding Katie's relationship with Eamonn, her ex-husband George, aged 53, recently confessed that he felt like the "luckiest man alive" when she agreed to marry him. He also extended his sympathies to Eamonn's former wife, stating: "I have a lot of sympathy for Ruth. I had my heart broken when my marriage to Katie ended. It took me a couple of years to recover. I know how distraught Ruth must be feeling. She's going through what I did after our marriage ended. Katie has a heart, so will feel bad about Ruth."
George disclosed that it was through social media where Eamonn first caught Katie's attention. "She was not swooning over him like she was George Clooney, but she liked being on social media, and one day said she'd had a reply from him," he explained. "She'd commented on one of his posts and Eamonn got in touch. I must admit I laughed it off. " He went on to share that their separation was amicable and he only found out that Katie, who is now a relationship therapist, was communicating with Eamonn after their marriage had ended. He revealed: "I was surprised by it. Katie would go and visit him. It was a regular pattern."
