Inside incredible private jet home that sits on lake – and you can rent on Airbnb

An incredible old plane has been transformed into a luxury living space, which is available to rent. Nowadays there are so many different options when it comes to stopping the night away from home - and many people love checking out unique properties on Airbnb. One of the most loved and unusual homes on Airbnb is an aeroplane house. You will be taken back in time to 1956 on the DC-6 air freighter which was used for hauling critical freight and fuel to remote villages around Alaska in the US for over 50 years, according to owner Jon.

From the outside the plane, which sits on a private airstrip in Wasilla, looks like an ordinary plane ready to take flight. But when you walk inside, you will find a grand dining room and kitchen space, a living room area, two bedrooms, a large bathroom, as well as access to the cockpit. Plus, you can enjoy incredible views from the deck area built on one of the plane's wings - while firing up the barbecue.

Owner Jon recently shared a tour around his impressive property. Shared on @supercarblondie.xtra on TikTok, he said: "The inspiration to build this house came out of the fact that lumber was crazy expensive to build a regular house - and half the house is already built if you have an aeroplane." You'll climb aboard up a flight of stairs to the 'Mud Room' that gives you access to your airplane home via the cargo loading door. "You'll find your washer and dryer there and a hallway to access the master suite, full bathroom, and guest bedroom, as well as the kitchen moving forward, living area, dining room, and cockpit," Jon added.

The owner insisted that while he kept many of the planes features, he wanted it to feel like home when you are inside. Speaking about the bathroom area, he explained: "We didn't want to skimp on the bathroom, we wanted to have a real bathroom and a real shower. I did not want it to feel like you are in last class on the aeroplane."

Both bedrooms have large beds and TVs. However he kept the cockpit exactly as it was so people can appreciate it. To stay in the aeroplane home, it will set you back between $300 [£223.87] and $700 [522.41] per night - depending on the time of year you visit. Over 1,000 people rushed to comment on the home. "An amazing piece," said one. Another added: "I would love to live there, permanently, if I was rich - wow." "This is insanely impressive," added another.
