Inside Pink Floyd frontman David Gilmour's Hove haven - yours for £15 million
If you want to start the new year in style, the seaside retreat of rock and roll icon David Gilmour is still on sale.
The property, owned by the Pink Floyd frontman, was completed in 2020, but went on the market last year.
Located in King’s Esplanade, Hove, Medina House is thought to be one of the most expensive homes in the city, with a price tag of £15 million, and boasts views out to the English Channel, a state-of-the-art recording studio and five bedrooms.
The custom-built seafront mansion, designed by award-winning architect Keb Gavarito-Bruhn, replaced a former 19th-century bathhouse and incorporates the distinctive crow-stepped Dutch gable of the original building.
The property has a soothing zen-inspired garden at its centre, landscaped by garden designer Arabella Lennox-Boyd, and also has a range of modern technology, including underfloor heating boosted by automatically operated fan-assisted trench heaters, a comprehensive wireless network and a Kef sound system.
If that wasn’t enough, the seaside paradise also has its own wine store, gym, library, sauna, study and even an orangery.
David and his wife Polly have listed the home with independent property consultants Pereds, which has a history of selling huge properties in sought-after locations.
The couple said of the property: “The main bedroom, with sea views in all directions, is a beautiful place from which to watch the sunrise and sunset across the sea.
“At night, it’s intoxicating to watch from bed the moon reflected in the water.
“Wehn you wake up in the morning, the view is always a surprise: the sea and sky are never the same.
“It’s a huge advantage not to have a busy road and traffic between us and the sea.
“We love the drama of winter storms over the water and it is amazing to run across the beach to swim and hop back to the house for a sauna.”
The property is not far from “Millionaire’s Row” at the end of Western Esplanade in Hove, where stars including Adele, David Walliams and Fatboy Slim have all been resident over the years.
Although he is selling off his Hove haven, David still lives in Sussex, with a home on a farm in Wisborough Green, near Horsham.
