Inside new restaurant opening in Moseley as owners share 'important update'
An opening date has been confirmed for a new fusion restaurant opening in Moseley and owners are promising diners an 'incredible experience'.
Sakura is opening in the old Kimchi spot just off the suburb's main high street in Woodbridge Road. Owners closed the Korean kitchen earlier this year to focus on the other Kimchi branch in Selly Oak, however the unit is now being bought back into use after a rebrand.
As the name, which means 'cherry blossom' in Japanese, suggests, Sakura will specialise in Japanese cuisine, but with a Korean twist. The fusion restaurant will serve traditional Japanese dishes including gyozas, sushi, donburi rice bowls, ramen noodle soups and katsu curries, alongside dishes with Korean influences like beef hotpots.

Signs hinting about the reopening first appeared in the window at the end of September, but an open date has now been set for Tuesday, November 19. Bosses shared an 'important update' with locals on social media this week.
The post said: "We're excited to welcome you to Sakura, but due to some final adjustments to make everything perfect, our grand opening will be postponed just a little bit. Instead of this Thursday, we'll be opening our doors on Tuesday, November 19 at 5pm.

"We appreciate your understanding and patience as we make sure everything is just right for an incredible experience. Mark your calendars, bring your friends, and join us for an evening filled with delicious Korean and Japanese flavours. Thank you for your support, and we can’t wait to welcome you all on the 19th. See you there!"
The restaurant has undergone a subtle refurbishment and Sakura owner Hyun Jung told BirminghamLive: "We're all about warm hospitality and creating a welcoming space for guests to experience these vibrant flavours."
Sakura joins a handful of new restaurants to open in Moseley Village centre within the last few months. Japanese fine dining spot Satori launched in the old Carters of Moseley unit at the start of October, while Afghan restaurant Kabuli and Persian-inspired café TenTen recently opened on Alcester Road.
