Inside The World’s Most Flash Hotel - Fave Spot of Kim Kardashian and Tulisa

With celebs from Mark and Michelle Wright to Drake, stars love showing off a bit by staying at the Atlantis in Dubai - one of the most luxe, lavish and lovely hotels in the world.

Matthew McConaughey and Salma Hayek are the latest two A-listers to be snapped there (they were attending a charity gala) and with Dubai’s high tourist season in full swing, Yahoo Celeb were given an exclusive tour of a hotel so fancy pants, it makes Buckingham Palace look like a Holiday Inn.

Located at the apex of the man-made Jumeirah Palm, its impressive silhouette can be seen from miles and miles away. And its so damn flash that one of its rooms, the Royal Bridge Suite, costs an eye-watering £19k a night. Yes, that’s almost 20 grand for a single night’s kip.

When Yahoo Celeb arrived the only areas really open to nosy parkers - like ourselves - and tourists are a street of boutiques and some high end eateries.

Security are quick to stop you if you try to sneak to the aquarium or anywhere near the rooms.

Which is a good thing obviously but not if you’re trying to be a snoop.

At first we were wondering what the fuss was all about. Sure the Atlantis’ facade is duly spectacular but so far all we’d seen was some expensive shops and an ice scream parlour where the staff were shouting and hurling gelato about.

However once we had been summoned to the Grand Lobby our tunes were well and truly changed.

We had to go via the Lost Chambers Aquarium, home to more than 65,000 types of sea life and decorated with the ‘debris’ of the Atlantis - the fictional island created by Plato that sank into the Atlantic after it fell out of favour with the gods.

The Atlantis is so spectacular that the very famous can stroll around almost completely unrecognised as visitors are too agog with their surroundings, said our tour guide.

And there has been a whole host of high profile visitors, as well as presidents and royalty. Tulisa is a fan, as are Jourdan Dunn, Millie Mackintosh and Poppy Delevingne.

But none more famous than the Kardashian-in-chief. Kim, 34, famously stayed at the mega lavish Royal Bridge Suite in 2014 - which is where we were whisked to, 22 storeys up via private lift with another two security checks, as part of our tour. And wow. This is what we found out.

10 facts about the Atlantis

1. The 30-metre sculpture in the Grand Lobby is made out of 3,000 pieces of hand-blown glass and took two years to make.

3. There’s also a giant chess set there with pieces the size of small children.

4. The Suite’s balcony is also one of the only vantage points on land in Dubai where you can see the extraordinary man-made Palm Jumeirah in its entirety.

6. And if that get boring, a billiards room. Obviously.

7. Then if you’re feeling peckish and can’t be bothered to see anyone, the whopping room price also includes the private services of a Nobu chef.

8. In one of Atlantis’ eateries Ossiano you can propose to your future spouse underwater. Really. A diver in The Ambassador Lagoon will float to the window of your table and hold up a sign saying “Will You Marry Me”.

9. About 58,000km of steel was used to build the Atlantis - that’s more than nine times longer than the Wall of China.

10. The hotel even has its own brand of beef - Atlantis Beef. It’s the choicest cuts from Australian cattle and no other place can sell or source the same.
