Intense Wind and Rain Hit Baja California as Hurricane Olaf Makes Landfall

Parts of Mexico’s Baja California Sur were placed under a warning as Hurricane Olaf made landfall on the state’s southern coastline on Thursday, September 9.

This footage filmed by Beth Ashton Gilmore shows rough surf and strong winds hitting a resort in San Jose del Cabo, with debris strewn across the hotel’s lobby.

Olaf made landfall “very near San Jose del Cabo” at around 9 pm local time, bringing estimated maximum sustained winds of 100 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).
