"What A Piece Of Sh*t": The Internet Is Calling Out Donald Trump For Blaming The Tragic DC Plane Crash On Diversity
Editor's Note: While we can't endorse what X has become, we can bring you the worthwhile moments that still exist there, curated and free of the surrounding chaos.
On Wednesday night, an American Airlines plane and a Black Hawk Army helicopter collided over the Potomac River. Flying from Wichita, Kansas, the passenger jet was about to land at DC's Ronald Reagan National Airport when the collision occurred. There were 67 people aboard the two aircraft; none of them survived.
This is the deadliest aviation incident in nearly a quarter of a century, per AP.
An investigation is underway as people across the country mourn and demand answers. Yesterday, President Donald Trump laid the blame on a number of people, including former presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama and former secretary of transportation Pete Buttigieg. Bizarrely, Trump said that Pete has "just got a good line of bullshit."
But most outrageous was Trump's insistence that the devastating plane crash occurred due to DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion). When asked how he came to that conclusion, he replied, "Because I have common sense, and unfortunately, a lot of people don't."

All of this comes after recent upheaval in the aviation world. FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) administrator Michael Whitaker resigned on the day of Trump's inauguration — following a yearslong back and forth with Elon Musk that included safety violation fines for SpaceX and Elon calling for Michael's resignation on X (formerly Twitter). Trump also fired the head of the Transportation Security Administration and disbanded the Aviation Security Advisory Committee.
On top of that, several Democrats protested the Trump administration's Jan. 20 federal hiring freeze. The Jan. 22 joint statement from House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure ranking member Rick Larsen and Subcommittee on Aviation ranking member Steve Cohen said that "hiring air traffic controllers is the number one safety issue according to the entire aviation industry" and asked the Trump administration to "allow the FAA to do its job protecting the flying public."
