The internet’s favourite candidate was Lord Buckethead - who won ‘record’ number of votes

Last night’s election may have resulted in a hung Parliament, but there was one, clear winner on the internet – a mysterious bucket-wearing ‘space lord’ called Lord Buckethead.

Buckethead stood against Theresa May – with a manifesto which included ‘bringing back Ceefax’ – and got 249 votes.

He celebrated this on Twitter as ‘a new Buckethead record’ – although Theresa May was unable to stop herself smirking (see below).

Buckethead previously stood against Margaret Thatcher in 1987, and against John Major in 1992 – although he was unsuccessful on both occasions.

His real name is not known, but he describes himself as an ‘intergalactic space lord, running to be an independent member of parliament for Maidenhead.’

‘Enjoys planet-conquering, dominating inferior species, and Lovejoy.’
