Police are investigating the death of a 44-year-old who was killed while working on a travelator at Waterloo Station.
Transport for London (TfL) confirmed that the worker – an engineer – died while working at the busy station this morning.
British Transport Police said a 44-year-old man from Cambridgeshire had been pronounced dead at the scene after a contract worker had been “injured on a travelator”.
TFL tube boss Vernon Everitt said in a statement that an “immediate and urgent investigation is underway”.

BTP Detective Inspector Darren Gough said: “This is a truly tragic incident and our deepest condolences are with the man’s family.
“They are currently being supported by specially trained family liaison officers as they come to terms with this devastating news.
“We are now working closely with the Office for Road and Rail (ORR) to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and establish exactly what happened to lead to the man’s very sad death.”
